out to dinner? - Eating Disorder Recovery Message Board

Hi everyone,

I have been doing so much better lately. I FEEL a lot healthier, even though it scares the hell out of me that I am gaining weight. I am really trying to focus on being healthy, exercising every day, eating for energy, etc... I do okay when I feel in total control of what I can choose to eat. But last night we went out to dinner for a friend's birthday. I ordered a large salad, figuring that it would be a realtively healthy option. I soon found myself eating half of my friend's food, reaching for the bread basket, and so on. How can I control this when I'm at a restaurant? I'm supposed to go out for dessert tonight with my boyfriend and I'm terrified that I won't be able to control my eating in this setting. It's scary for me to not know exactly what I'm putting into my body. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hey! I just wanted to know how you are doing at the moment. I also hate that feeling of not knowing what you are eating! Especially when it comes to deserts. I usually just estimate. But if I don't wanna make myself panick....then I will make up like 100kcals for a piece of chocolate cake. Although this is never the case with chocolate cake....it does actually make you feel better in eating it, I find!!!
