Hi, I'm new to this board. I wasn't planning on reading any of these posts, but yours caught my eye. I'm sure you know that binge eating and then throwing up isn't healthy for you, so I won't go into that. I will say, though, that you're better off not eating a huge meal in the first place, because even when you throw up, your body still absorbs AT LEAST 60% of the calories of what you just ate. You feel full because you stretched your stomach out, and it's not physically possible to empty it by vomiting. I know what it's like to feel guilty about eating a big meal, BUT vomiting won't make up for that guilt if you're absorbing all those calories. I know I was shocked to hear that percentage--it's not worth ruining the enamel on your teeth or the lining of your esophagus for a few measly calories!
