Hi Legally Brunette.
It’s good to hear that you’re finally getting some professional help for this after all that time of struggling by yourself.
I know you’re afraid of gaining weight, but that’s not the sole purpose of counselling anyway. I’ve explained this before on this board, but can’t remember on which topic or I’d just post the link! Anyway, counselling isn’t so much about talking about your weight as it is talking about... well... ANYTHING! I’ve been in counselling for a little while now, and I rarely talk about my weight there, and although I am weighed weekly at the moment, I’m never put under the pressures of being told to gain a certain amount of weight. This makes the whole counselling idea a lot more tolerable! You’re right though; the doctor’s ARE very understanding! I’m glad you get on well with your counsellor, as that’s a necessity to benefit from counselling.
Sure, 1100 calories seems like a lot to you now, but the truth is it’s not nearly enough to even gain weight! I’m on a special diet too, and trying hard to follow it (although I must admit I slip from time to time!) and it doesn’t make me gain weight at all either.
Good luck! F Don’t forget to post back and let us all know how you are!
Ashlee
