Exclamation I need hope for a better life!!

Hi all!!

I am having a pretty hard time not getting depressed about my ED today! I went seven days without having problems and then--Wham--I binge! I don't know why I do it--I am going home from collge for Easter Break and I am so afraid that I am going to have proplems...I do everytime! I just want to be okay! I feel like such a hypicrit sometimes when I write to others on this board--In reality I need so much help! I am going to school to be a psychologist, but if I cannot help muself..How will I ever help others? This is such a hard thing in my life, but I need to keep hope that someday I will be okay Love Katie

Hi, Kat. There aren't any rules on this board to say that you HAVE to preach what you impart on others. If that were true, nobody would ever post here at all. Everyone here recognizes that behavioural change over time is difficult. You can't just wake up one day and be someone else. There are a lot of steps in between that make us feel better. And a big part of what makes me feel better so far is just listening to friends' problems, and successes, and love stories and so on. There's always a world outside of your own, and my own, and that of everyone here.

Great things happen all the time. I'm a classical musician, and last night, out of the blue, I got an e-mail from a total stranger who got my name from someone I worked with a couple of weeks ago. I've had a lousy day, and I've just consumed 2 litres of apple juice (at least it wasn't chocolate), but now I get to be a small part of a rock album, something I never would have imagined as an orchestra player. Try to look for the little surprises in life instead.

Cool

Hey Kat! I just wanted to let you know I can totally identify with you.I to can go for days weeks and manage okay, then you throw in a stressful event which could be the trip home for you and everything goes to hell. But just remeber it is a learning process, you have to realize your personal limitations and what triggers you. I learn something new every day.. And always remeber stay postive and usually your, your own hardest critic. Everyone on this board has issues or we wouldnt' be here.. stay well and good luck Easter!!

Thank you so much, I had another bad day, but it helps to remember that there are other people with the same problems as me...That is hard to think about when you are burging, but I really hope that we will all get better someday! Love Katie

Hello Kat (from another Kat),

I have a BA in psychology and also do a lot of social work kind of stuff, with homeless people and addicts etc... and yes I have had my share of problems (not only anorexia) but I must say... looking back, it all lead to so much growth... I don't think you should ask how you can ever help people, I think we who have been through hard times ourselves are better able to understand other people.
And I also strongly believe that everything happens for a reason, and that there is no such thing as "no hope". Things will happen that we can't even dream of yet today. :-)

Kathrin
