Disappointing turn...

I have been in remission from bulimia for nearly three years, with mini-relapses here and there where I would purge maybe three times a year or so.
Well, these past two weeks I have found myself bingeing and purging 7 or 8 times...

I am so disappointed in myself, and so scared that I will never be able to stop overeating. If I could just stick to a diet and stop having days where I sit around eating junk then I would not feel the need to make myself vomit...
I guess I just never learned how to eat and behave appropriately around food even though I was able to put the behaviors in remission for a while...

What can I do? I don't want to bring this up to others and have them worry and overreact all over again... Can I nip this in the bud before I need to go to some kind of intensive treatment?
Why can't I stop overeating???? :-(

Please help.
I feel like I need a network of people who understand me.

In a post to xx I believe you correctly identified the problem as emotional. So, to "nip this in the bud", I would suggest you try to identify how your emotional state has changed. What happened two weeks ago to trigger your recent behavior of binging and purging?

Have you ever tried meditation? There's a good book on this subject: "The Relaxation Response" by Herbert Benson.

In another book, I read that doctors can tell, with a brain scan, who's a beginner at meditating and who has had years of experience. Meditating can actually change your brain. The title is: "Train Your Mind Change Your Brain" by Sharon Begley.

Re: Disappointing turn...

Thanks... that would be a good way for me to do something with my anxiety that is not destructive and also that could really help me get better in touch my myself. I found an OA meeting in my area, too, for this Sunday. Has anyone ever gone to OA meetings? Has it helped? Thank you!

Hello Alyssa946,

I've been to OA meetings and it can put a person's situation into perspective.

Know that there are also online OA meetings for you to consider.

Respectfully
Phoenix
