I have had debilitating fatigue for over ten years now. I've had to drop out of school multiple times because of it and I have no social life thanks to it. I can't work either. It has effectively ruined my life. I've been going to a never ending succession of doctors and none can tell me what's wrong with me. They always either don't know what to test for, or test me for the same common things that I've been tested for so many times before, or don't bother even doing anything at all, besides taking my money of course. The only time I get tested for an out of the ordinary and rare condition is when I specifically request it. But I haven't been to medical school! I don't know what I'm doing. I can't doctor myself. I need help.
I have other symptoms too, like poor concentration, poor memory, my legs easily bruise, my hair is thinning, I heal slowly, and some other symptoms.
I am all out of ideas and am tired of wasting my time with doctors. I feel like I'll never find out what's wrong with me. I just feel like giving up. I don't know what to do or who to go to for help. I'm even beyond belief that there's a such thing as help anymore.

nottellinnebody: You need to be seen by an endocrinologist and get your thryoid, adrenal glands, and hormones checked. Also get your vitamins checked and see if you might need some B12. You didn't say your age, but if you're in perimenopause that could be causing some of your problems too. It's too bad you have to be your own advocate in this world, otherwise these doctors really have no idea how it really feels to feel like you. I wish you luck.
Try a qualified doctor of traditional chinese medicine (tcm). I'm not sure where to find one in the US, but i do know they have good ones in New York. Try asking around the local chinatown, if there is one in your area. but before seeing him, ask about his/her qualifications. look for one who has had extensive medical training in China or one who is a graduate of medicine in a prestigious university in china. this was how they've been doing it in china for thousands of years, and the Chinese are known to be among the healthiest people on the planet. Try to do some tai chi , too. it takes some discipline but doen correctly, a few minutes a day can work wonders.
I feel your pain, it's like doctors only treat A B or C disease, once they've checked for those they passive-aggressively send you off to the next doc who kindly tests you for - A B and C.
Try a not-for-profit teaching hospital*, they tend to have more open minded and experienced doctors, the kind who aren't afraid to crack a book open and LOOK for an answer rather than blaming the patient for their own ignorance.
*call and make an appt with a hospital doc, if you're not sure what kind of specialty to ask for, see an internist.
you might want to try to read up on traditional chinese medicine, there are many good medical researches/articles on the internet. At the very least, pulse diagnosis by a good doctor of TCM will help you understand what you're experiencing, or at least give you good clues as to what's wrong with your body. think of it as an alternative to giving up or getting fed up with needles, x-rays, etc.
hello nottell it sounds like you have parathyroid problems have your doctor check ur calcium levels if there hi then im afraid you have a tumor on ur parathyroid. having a tumor there would give u syptoms such as chronic fatique loss of libito, thinning hair pain in bones, easy bruising, and loss of concentration and memory. There is a very high chance if u have hi calcium levels then u got a tumor there.
OMG! I found out what is wrong! I am suffering from severe sleep deprivation! I have obstructive sleep apnea and my ENT says that it's very unusual because I'm not over weight and I'm young and I'm female (the opposite being the usual patient for obstructive sleep apnea).
He says that I'm waking up over 40 times an hour and I never get deep, restorative REM sleep.
More good news! (Yes, just getting a diagnosis is good news) I'm a good candidate for surgery to cure it! He wants me to try the CPAP machine for a few months first then we're supposed to talk about surgery.
I'm so relieved, I was starting to think that maybe I'm just plain stupid and scatter brained and more but all these things can be tied to sleep deprivation. He said it's so bad that he's worried about me falling asleep while I'm driving. I'll finally be able to go back to school full time and actually remember things and get a job, take care of things, and hang out with friends.
I just went to an endo today and he practically yelled at me for coming in! My problem is that I had <4 vitamin d. Was put on megadoses and FEEL HORRIBLE. The pain is incredible. I asked the endo if he'd ever heard of that before. He said NO!
I wanted to post a new thread but can't find the button! I am new.
Well I did a little research tonight that said the the function of D is to REGULATE CALCIUM. So, in the beginning, my calcium levels were at 8.8 and my D was less than 4. Then what would my calcium be if my D was supplemented to 47??????????????. I'm thinking my calcium could be thru the roof. This could explain my horrible hip and leg pain. Anyone have any experience with this?
