Fasting for Plasma Cortisol???
I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place or not.
I am seeing an Endocrinologist next week and in the meantime he ordered along with many other tests a Plasma Cortisol test that I got done on Friday. They advised me to lay flat for 30 minutes prior to drawing my blood. They never asked if I fasted for 12 hours before the drawing. It wasn't until I got home after the test and looked it up online that I noticed that you are supposed to fast. About an hour before the test I ate a Salt bagel and a chocolate pastry with a coke. I'm worried that this will interfere with my results.
I have a small Adrenal Adenoma. Do any of you know if this will have any negative effects on the test and why they make you fast?
