I had recently had blood work done to check my Growth Hormone levels and it came back as 0.1. Is this normal for a guy at age 36years?
The doctor said its normal but I would imagine if the range goes up to 10.0 that would be low.
I took the test at 9am.
The only reason why I am concern is because I read adults with low growth hormone suffers from depression, low libido, isolation and feeling always tired. These are symptoms I have been battling with since I was about 23 years and the doctors place me on antidepressants which only work for about a month or two. I an just tired of feeling this was and looking for answers.
Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advace.
Being GH deficient is sort of rare and is usually accompanied by other endocrine deficiencies. However if you suspect you are, have the Dr check your IGF 1. This is not a be all and end all for GH deficiency but another step in diagnosing. If the IGF 1 is low, a GH stimulation test may be in order. You should probably have other endocrine hormones checked.
