Insulin Resistance

A Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) diagnosed me as having insulin resistance, I took this test after consulting a Dietician. I'm 50 years old am an active gym goer with a personal trainer who could not shift the weight. My diet is very good and I also enjoy the occasional drink. My numbers were high for the GTT so my GP and dietician suggest I take Metformin, after 6 months I have lost 14kg (30lb). My strength at the gym deteriorated (as they suggested it might.. as insulin resistance creates testosterone) but I felt great. I went to have another GTT and lo & behold my numbers had increased significantly.... has anyone else had this happen?
