Smile Could I have endometriosis II

Hi everyone,

I seem to be in the same boat as most of you girls. I started my period when I was 11 and suffered for years with bad periods. I am almost 26 and at my wits end.

I was put on Seasonale 6 months ago because I couldn't bear to have a period every month anymore. It seems to help a bit, but when I do get my periods I feel like I am dying. Thursday was so bad that I fainted at work and ended up in the hospital yesterday to get ultrasounds done. My reg dr. couldn't do a pelvic because I was so sore and swollen. She thought there was a endometrioma mass (sp?) in my uterus.

The ultrasounds showed my ovaries are enlarged and have cysts that are evident and my uterine thickness is 4 mm. Is that a normal thickness?

My GYN and I have been going back and forth about endo for over 6 months, I am at the point where I think I want to do the laproscopic surgery so I can know for sure. The BCP's are not helping enough. Like most of you, I am also on narcotics for the period pain.

I just seem to always have more questions then answers. Any help you can give me would be apprieciated. Thank you for all being so strong and open about your own experiences.

Re: Could I have endometriosis II

Hi Kaesle,
I am sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. I know that it is hard to deal with. Unfortunatly the only way to say if you have endo is to have the lapy done. I know nothing about cysts, so I could not say if that is what is causing so much pain or not. I think you should talk to your gyno about getting a lapy done. It will be the best way to ease your mind. It would also be the best way for you to eliminate so much of the pain your feeling if it is infact endo. Please make the appointment it could make a world of difference for you. Good luck Kaesle. Nicole

Post Re: Could I have endometriosis II

Hi. I know this is difficult to deal with. Please feel free to use these boards for support...we all have had great experiences here. Have you read the other "could I have endo thread?" I know it's long but it has some great info in it. Please feel frre to ask me any questions. I have been dealing with endo for 4 years. I am currently on Lupron injections for pain control. This was my last resort after many different treatment approaches. I am 27, have been married for 7 months and plan on hopefully having kids when the time is right. Hang in there.

Re: Could I have endometriosis II

I went to the Dr. and he said it was finally time for the lapy. I am scheduled for Dec. 22th and am very nervous. I have read the other thread on here about endo and you ladies are wonderful support.

I guess what freaks me out the most is that either they will get in there and it will be worse then they thought, or they will find nothing and I will have "imagined" it all. I am also scared because he said there is a possibility that I might lose my left ovary if it is too bad (I have a bunch of cysts) because he think it is covered in endo.

I had cervical cancer last year and had the colposcopy and LEEP and everything, does anyone know if that would make a difference in any of this? My last pap (a month ago) came back normal...

Thanks for the replies!!

Re: Could I have endometriosis II

I am so glad to hear that you are getting your lapy done. Don't be scared. If it turns out that they must take out your left ovary, remeber that you don't need both of them to have children. Many people have children with only one ovary. This lapy is going to be of great relief to you. You will be able to know where to go from there. Unfortunatly I am not sure about the leep making a difference. It is good that your pap came back. Good luck and don't be scared. Please let me know how it goes. Nicole
