Post menopause endometriosis?
Hoping to get some advice here, please! I am 61 years old, periods finished at age 47 and had uneventful menopause. Had tubal ligation at age 40. No problems at all until one year ago when I started having a slight pain in the left lower pelvis. Ultrasound showed nothing and blood tests came back fine. Because the symptoms continued, I was sent for a ct scan and that showed multiple enlarged lymph nodes higher up in the mesentery, which turned out to be follicular lymphoma. That all happened in July last year. I had surgery to biopsy the nodes and at that time, the pain in the left lower pelvis went away....for six months. I have had chemotherapy for the lymphoma and finished treatment about a month ago. Then the pain came back! No worse, it is a slight twinge or dull pain that is there some days and some days it is not. I never feel it at night. It is not bad enough to take pain killers. But it is annoying. When I told my oncologist about it, he sent me for a colonoscopy, which showed no problems.
No one has mentioned the possibility of endometriosis and I did not consider it as I thought you had to be menstruating to get that. Now I understand it can show up in later years, but I would have thought that there would have at least been signs earlier if it were present.
I really do not want a lap at this point, as it is not that bad, but just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience and if, in fact endometriosis could just start showing symptoms at this late stage of my life.
