Re: i have endometriosis why do i have to have a MRI and xray

Usually, the initial imaging examination for suspected endometriosis is pelvic ultrasound (US) scanning. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides superior anatomic detail and better defines abnormalities found using ultrasonography. The only way to positively diagnose emdometriosis is with laparoscopy. It is an invasive procedure, so physicians usually try to use everything else available to them before considering laparoscopy. Hope this helps a bit. Endometriosis is extremely frustrating to live with. Been there, done that. Best of luck with your tests.
