I get my lupron shot today and I'm really nervous! They prescribed me aygestin to go with it but I still just see so many horror stories out there. I have endo and on 1/4 I had a laparoscopy and still have the horrible pain. I really hope this helps and my husband and I will be TTC this summer. Does anybody have any stories to share with me?
I also had lupron therapy for endometriosis. I found right afterwards I felt very strong hot flashes, but the soon went away. In the end, I got great relief from the lupron and eventually lost the incredible pain I was in. I did have to see a pain specialist in the interim and did go on pain medication for almost a year, but now I am free of any pain and happy as a lark.
It is a tough row to hoe, but I wish you the very best. I have found that expecting side effects can trick your brain into thinking you have all of them. On the other hand, when expecting positive results helps in almost every situation. Life is so much about our attitude.
Give yourself a few days to get used to the new medication, be patient with yourself and expect the very best.
Not too bad. I get shot number 2 on Monday. I have an add back therapy that I think is helping. I do get some hot flashes but they are tolerable horrible night sweats and my back is now broke out in zits because of it. I just use a fan and acne medicine for that. I had some stronger pains from the endo for the first week and didn't get a period yet so I'm not sure if that's normal or not. Overall WAY better than the pain!
Wearing 100% cotton sleep wear can help with the night sweats, as well as the fan. I have continued with the fan every since in fact. That way i can throw the covers off and cool off without really waking up. Also, showering before and after sleep can help.
As you mentioned, anything is better than the pain. I hope each day is better than the last, and you find relief that last forever.
i was only lupron for 1 year twice so far. and i will say it was amazing. i was pain free till i had to come off it. It can weaken your bones so my dr said only a year at a time and double up on calcium. But it was my savior and after my lap last month i am waiting to start a similar shot.
