Unhappy Need advice please

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with endometriosis last October after a lap. They found it on my pouch of Douglas and uterosacral ligament.

I tried the mirena until last month but I had to have it removed due to really bad acne and weight gain. It helped with the symptoms because I didn't have a period the whole time.

I went back to the pill and had a day of a really painful period and now I'm halfway through the month and getting really bad cramps even tho I don't have a period.

Does this sound like its back already? Or is too soon? Does it always come back?

I am also wondering if its less likely for me to have infertility problems because of the area it was in?

I would really appreciate anyone's input.... I don't know what to do

Thanks,
Katie

Re: Need advice please

Hi Katie,

Well, from what I've come across in my research endo most often will continue growing. Laps are only temporary fixes and their results will be of varying lengths for different people. You mentioned that they diagnosed your endo in October, did they also remove some of the lesions then? From what I've read unless you had an endo specialist who is very familiar with the condition most often laps are only going to remove part of the growths, it is difficult for most docs to remove 100% of lesions. But I have read of certain docs out there who can.

Unfortunately I think it's hard to say if you'll have fertility problems for sure or not. This condition is so varied and effects different women in different ways. I would encourage you to try not to lose hope yet and to do your own research and find a good doc you can continue working with. I have come across a lot of promising info in regards to endo and docs who specialize in working with endo and have great results in removing most or all of the lesions with their patients going on to have healthy pregnancies.

It can be a hard road for sure and we're all with you on it!

Breathe Well My Friend,
Nicole

Re: Need advice please

Hi! I was diagnosed with Endometriosis when I was 18. My doctor put me on the pill (Marvelon) and I was told to take it every single day with no breaks. I thought I could stop taking it after surgery, but no. I had surgery when I was 19 to remove a cyst apperantly it was the size of a canteloupe! When it was all done, the doctor still said I have to take the pill everyday with no breaks. But, the pill does prevent periods and I've had no pain since I started taking it. Do some research on Marvelon and maybe ask your doctor about it, it stopped all my pain.

Best of luck to you!
- Alicia
