Unhappy Very likely I will be diagnosed with Endometriosis very soon

Hi,

I am 22 and I have been in so much pain the past couple months. I have had a ruptured cyst that was unbelievably painful and everything has just been getting worse. I am going to see a specialist for OB-GYN soon to finally find out if I have endometriosis, and I am trying not to worry, but I know something is wrong with my body. My pelvic area hurts all the time, it hurts to have sex, it hurts to have a bowel movement, my back hurts, I am always tired, I have extremely painful periods, I am always in pain I just want to know from someone what they did to diagnose you and how long it took and what to be prepared for if this is my final diagnosis.

I have so many thoughts going through my head, like will I be in pain all the time? Will I be able to have a baby? Will I have to have surgery?

Everything is so unknown and it freaks me out, I am not a person who complains, but I feel no one understands what I am going through, that is why I am reaching out.

Thank you,
Cole

Re: Very likely I will be diagnosed with Endometriosis very soon

i know its easier said then done but dont freak out. I have had endo for 15 years now. I have had 4 surgeries and went though a bunch of gynos till i found the one i have now. Surgery is the only way to fully diagnose it. Its out patient. I would be pain free for a couple years after and then it would come back. I did birth control pills, lupron shot 2 different times(really worked the best) I found a endo specialist and had my last surgery in feb and am now on Zoladex shot. Every ones different and once you find out how bad it is then the treatment is up to the dr. I havent had a period since feb and that helps the most along with my shot. As for having a baby that also depends on how bad the endo is. I was told i should still be able to get pregnant but no way to tell till i try. I hope this was helpful. It sucks being in pain all the time, i know how that is.

Re: Very likely I will be diagnosed with Endometriosis very soon

Thank you for sharing what you have went through. My Aunt had Endo really bad and she had a total of 9 surgeries and finally a full historectomy, she was in so much pain for years and was on pain pills a lot. I am trying to not worry because I know extra stress will create adverse affects on my body, I just hate being in the "unknown" right now. I have an appointment tomorrow so hopefully I start getting some answers soon. Thank you also for sharing the different types of methods you have tried that have worked for the Endo. I was on birth control since I was 15 because I had extemely bad cramps, but I just got off a couple years ago because it started making me feel sick, I dont want to get back on it, but we will see.

All my really close friends are getting pregnant and getting married and I am trying to go into the military and I have been with my boyfriend for 9 years so I am just worried about my future and if I will be able to have a baby, but I have hope.

Thank you for bringing me back down to earth, I know I need to wait to get a diagnosis and I really appreciate everything you have shared.
