hi - i just read in the newspaper today that starting tomorrow they will be adding fluoride to the water - does anyone here have any recommendations on what water filter system would be the best for removing this toxin from our tape and shower water - thank you so much in advance -
There are quite a few. I don't have experience with any, but am considering it as well. Do you have any certain symptoms of fluoride intolerance? I know there's a whole school of thought on the conspiracy/poisoning involving fluoride, etc.
We have gone to a whole house water filter, but it's pricey. Otherwise, I'd go with the under the sink model for the kitchen, and there's both a shower & bath filter sold at Real Goods.
The fluoride added to our tap water is a by-product from the aluminum industry. It's not the same as the fluoride found in some foods or many other natural sources. There is a lot of info out there on the topic. Most says "no" to fluoridated drinking water.
When I built my last house I installed a "reverse osmosis" water filter (under sink). It is connected to all taps where I drink from as well as the ice maker. It filters out the fluoride as well as chlorine and several other contaminants. At the time lowes sold these for around $200.
