Hi; I recently had some tests done and my doctor suspects toxin exposure. I lived in Baltimore for 8 years and recently moved to Colorado. The place I lived in in Baltimore had what appeared to be black mold in the basement (I have photos), so I was exposed to it for almost a year while I lived there.
I had a pulmonary breathing test done which came back as abnormal (exchange of O2 and CO2 in the lungs was abnormal) and a ct scan showed I have subpleural nodules and a mass on my right lung with diffused capacity. My doc said she has only seen this in people exposed to toxins such as coal miners or those exposed to asbestos or other toxins (which, to my knowledge, I have not been).
I have more tests to be done in June and an appt. with a lung specialist in July.
I am new to all this. Is there anything I can do at this point to help myself? Is there a particular type of doctor I should be seeing? Is this irreperable damage or can it be reversed? How will my quality of life be affected. At this point I have shortness of breath and I'm tired all time, sore abdomen, and generally feel crappy and fatigued much of the time. The lung thing really has me worried; I hope that my lungs will not be compromised for the rest of my life; I don't want to wind up toting an oxygen tank.
Does anything help detoxify the body?
I would appreciate any help or advice I can get; I'm pretty freaked out right now.
