Question Body twitches, how do you know?

Hi, I have had grand mal seizures that begin with this pulling sensation in my left eye- that continues and my entire head pulls to the left, then I start convulsing all over and loose consiousness. On one occasion I was partially contolled with meds and was conscious while I convulsed on oly one side of my body- it was a very scary experience, and it happened at work I tried to get to the door to close my office, but I had troble seeing and walking. So, now I have been 3 years grand-mal free. My question is this- How do you know if body twitches are a simple partial or just a normal part of life? Should I log these twiches I have had recently for my neurologist? I have had twitching in my left eye and both legs- one day so often that my legs felt sore eventually. I know there are twitches that happen to eeryone due to stress, but I'm not sure how to take the ones I am having. My neurologist wants me recording everything since we are considering switching me to progesterone since my seizures correlate with hormone levels. I am currently having my period, and I am having more twitches- Do I record these?
Thanks for any help you can offer!
-Rebecca

Hi Rebecca2, you could be having another seizure type. Does it feel like twitching or more like jerks. Sometimes you can experience break through seizures. Sounds like you have a neurologist who is trying to help. At least he realizes that hormones are affecting your seizures. I would definately record everything including what time of day they occur and if they happen more in the morning or at night when your relaxing. Could be relevent! Good Luck! Dana

Thanks so much Dana- that was very helpful. They are definately more like twitches- noone else would notice or see them... I will start tracking them, though it is difficult to always remember what I experience during each day- I would need to carry a notebook with me at work and everywhere...

you found a neuro who actually believes your seizures correlate with your hormone levels?! I know mine do, but both of the neurologists that I've had practically ignore me when I try to tell them that, but I know for a fact that that's what my partial seizures are from!
My MD believes me, and he even explained to me why that would be true, but neither of the neuros that I've seen believe me when I say that my partial seizures go along with my monthly cycle!
I really think it's time for me to find an Epileptologist....

Hi Krista!

I personally would recommend that you see a neuroendocrenologist. This is a doctor that deals with neurological disorders relating to hormones. That would be your best bet!
When you log these seizures or twitches be sure to also note what day you are on in your cycle! That is very relavent. There may be a distinct pattern!!
