Upped his meds! I asked what part of brain was have seizures, he said WHOLE brain! Said nothing else! So what does that mean? We go back in 2 weeks! IM SO LOST!

Hi Brennan's mom & welcome...

You can have all over seizure activity. Did your son suffer any injuries at birth or after? I would suggest starting some research on the internet about the type of seizures your son has. Did the doc say he had Tonic Clonic? Complex Partial that turns Tonic Clonic (Grand Mal)? How old is Brennan?

It sounds as though someone needs to talk to you further. Is there a nurse you can contact or a nurse practitioner from your doctor's office?

I am so sorry the neuro did not explain things better. I have found that this is often the case! As Vicki says looking on the net for info is a great idea. Do a search on seizure types and you will find some good info.

There are basically 2 MAIN types of seisures, Generalized (meaning the activity happens all over the brain from the beginning of the seizure) or Partial (meaning that it starts in one small area and can spread to the rest of the brain).....There are over 20 different kinds of seizures that fall into these categories...

Do some reading on them. Write down your questions for the neuro in 2 weeks. Tell him you do not understand and ask for a lay person's explanation...I always write down just what he says to remember it all and to go over it to help my understanding once I leave...

I posted earlier on this site.. about 14 yrs old trileptal. dr said NOTHING about what kind seizures look at my past post. im NORE lost than before and flusterated!! my prev post told all info. I have read but most refer to certain types to which part of brain! I wrote down stuff today and he just looked at it! hummm

I will go reread your other post~ I am so sorry he is not listening to you and saying things with no explanation. Can you try a new neuro for a second opinion?
