Epilepsy need information - Epilepsy Message Board

I had my first seizure when I was 18 back in 2000. They started me on Tegretol and had reaction. I then went on Lamictal and had a very sever reaction that almost killed me. Finally I was put on Neurontin and the Clonazepam. I only have grand mal seizures when I'm asleep and usually one a year. For about a year I've been having hearing problems. But that wasn't what was happening. Recently, the smells and sounds are due to my epilepsy. So now my new neuorologist after recieving an EEG that finally showed high and low points wants me to go on Keppra. I also just recently had a grand mal seizure. My point is I just want to find out more information if anybody can help me. So please contact and answer back.

If you do an internet search on seizure types you should be able to find some good info....this site does not allow us to put in other web addresses. There are many good places around to learn more about seizures...

I am so sorry you had a recent grand mal....Hoping you can get control.

Hi Tiffany,
Welcome to the board. I have had Epilepsy all my life, so I know what your going through. Do you get any warning signs or auras before a siezure? Or are you up tight before hand? These are usually good indicators something is coming. The smells and sounds that you are experiancing I can relate to I started having these experiances when I was a kid. They were eventually put down to Temporal Lobe activity so that could be a possibility for your situation. Only tests will be abel to clarrify it though.
