Zonegran - Epilepsy Message Board

My daughter recently was put on zonegran for seizures. If anyone has any info or experience regarding this medication please reply.

I wish you much sucess with this medication, as we all know it becomes trail and error with meds.
This medication really "zoned" me out, so my doc placed me on another.
Presently I am on Trileptol and Keppra, this combo seems to be ok.

BOth of my kids have been on Zonegran and did fairly well on it. It has the least side effects of any med my son tried as far as impairing learning. He will go on it again, if I have my way. It seems to be a med that others either love or hate.

It can cause some trouble thinking, we only saw this on high doses, though. If you ask your pharmacy, they should give you a full print out of side effects that are a concern and what to look out for.

One important thing is to make sure she drinks PLENTY of water, it is filtered through the kidneys and kidney stones are possible side effect...
