what is this?

last night i was sitting talking with my girlfreind when she suddenly slumped onto the bed, went stiff and making a funny noise.. her gaze was fized and she wouldnt respond. after about 15-20 seconds she woke up and when i aasked if she was ok cos it looked like some kind of fit she said "what r u talking about?" she then got all confused and her vison started to go blurry and she couldnt see for about 1 min... i was really scared so phoned the doc.. he spoke to her on the phone and said it could have been that the room was hot and she got up to quickly and to go and see her GP the next day. the whole thing has freaked me out as this has never happened to her before.. anyone got any ideas... does it sound like epilepsy or something worse?

Re: what is this?

I am so sorry, sounds really scary for you! It is pretty common to have no memory of what happens when you have a seizure. TO be considered epilepsy it would have to be recurring seizures.

What you describe does sound possible for seizure, especially the confused and disoriented after....Please urge her to see a doctor and maybe ask for an EEG.

Hope it was a one time thing. about 20% of the population will have a ONE time seizure and then never have a problem again.
