Hello, I have posted on this site many times. I went to the doctor today to get the results of my sleep study. The report says that I have restless leg syndrome and narcolepsy. Of course I thought of questions after I left the doc's. I had already been diagnosed with Complex Partial seizures. Does this mean that I don't have epilepsy? or that I have both? It is very confusing. I see my neuro on Friday. I am just not sure what all I should ask. I know that both narcolepsy and Complex Partial Epilepsy are both neurolgical in nature. I have never heard of someone having both.
Any advice would be great, as I am feeling very confused. Thanks
That would be very confusing! I would call the neuro back and explain why you are confused. Ask him what this all means and how you proceed from here.
You can have both the narcolepsy as well as epilepsy, but only the doctor knows what your tests show...
My son has Periodic Limb Movement disorder, which is related to Restless Legs. There are some good sites for info on that if you do a web search on the term. Checking for anemia is on thing they should do to see if that is increasing your restless legs. Reducing caffeine in diet will also help as well as getting enough calcium.
It is really common to have a doc visit and then need more clarification.. Give him a call and see if you can get these things answered.
Hang in there

Hi! I read your concern and felt like I was looking in a mirror! I was diagnosed with Complex Partials in 1999. I have recently been diagnosed with Narcolepsy and restless legs (slight on the legs) as well. According to my neurologist the Complex partial seizures is an Epilepsy. There are an increased number of epileptic types that people are not aware of. I have only recently begun treatment for my narcolepsy-not quite 2 mnths in.
Hello and thanks for the replies. I am not sure about the narcolepsy as sometimes I have trouble falling asleep, but I am tired a lot and I do have the sleep paralisis, that is scarry when I try to wake but cannot move. Also in the afternoon I will have to laydown and sometimes I fall into such a deep sleep that people have a hard time waking me or I have to "struggle" out of sleep. My neuro also isn't sure about diagnosing narcolepsy. The study showed that I don't get enough sleep, 47 arousals from sleep in one night!!! That is about six times in one hour. I have to turn frequently because of my neck problems. I just wish that I would feel better. Tired of the pain and tired of being tired LOL. My regular doctor (an angel who has been so helpful) is so understanding, I am so grateful that she doesn't think I am hypochondriac or crazy because of all my symptoms it is hard to figure out what is wrong with me. She still leans toward MS but MS specialist said no and wouldn't do any other tests than hitting me with a hammer. I have finally accepted the Partial Complex Epilepsy but it just doesn't explain the rest of what I go through.
