Hi everyone, I am a caregiver to a 16 year old boy that has Seizure's. He has not had one in 2 years as of right now, none that we are aware of I should say. He currently takes Tegretol XR 200 mg tablets 3 in the morning and 3 of them at night before bed.
I have only been with this child for 6 months. I am his dad's girlfriend and we live together now. I knew about his seizure's before I choose to live with him. Although I am still learning many many things about Epilepsy as I go. I do have a few questions about him becoming so irratable so quickly and usually over nothing or what I would consider nothing. He also is very hateful at times and rude disrepectful to everyone ... it is not just any certian person it is usually anyone he speaks to. His dad and I try very hard to make him "fit in" and feel wanted and needed as much as his sister. Although I am at wits end trying to find a way to controll the hatefulness and rudeness that he has towards everyone. He also has gained a considerably large amount of weight as well. I have been told that his medicine in the past has aided in that as well as the medicine that he is on now. I am sure that it has. Although I am concerned with his weight and him loosing some of it but when I try to speak to him about it I get the usual hatefulness ... I attempt to talk about it where I think that it will not hurt his feelings but I am not to sure how to go about doing that. He has a really hard time with learning things ... as to be expected with epilepsy. He has had seizure's his entire life. He was born with them and in the past they have been severe. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions to anything I have mentioned in this post PLEASE feel free to reply ... I am in desperate need of somewhere to go to talk about his condition and the daily struggles with taking care of him. Thank you so much in advance!
