VEEG what to expect

I'm going in for my VEEG from Aug 15-19, the dr told me to expect to stay the whole 5 days but hopefully only 2 days will be needed as I usually have auras everyday, even on my 2 meds. From what I've read though , that's usually not the case once they hook you up huh?
Do they allow you to wear your own PJs , and if so I imagine they need to be the kind that button up right? Can you watch TV? or just read all day? They told me to bring magazines but I read books so I will bring lots of books. Can I bring a mini DVD and movies? I guess I can ask the dr when they call a few days before to finalize the setup. it just helps to know from others who have done this before.
Thanks,
Bonnie

Re: VEEG what to expect

Best wishes for the VEEG! Hope it helps you....Yes, bring button down pj's or clothes that are comfortable. My son found oversized buttong down shirts and sweats or shorts worked well for him.

Bring things to keep you busy. They usually have a TV VCR in the room so bring some movies to watch. Things that might stress you or trigger seizures are good too. Paperwork, balance the check book, word puzzles, a phone card to call others......a game boy or something to play video games if that triggers you?

Hope it all goes really well and they see your seizures so they can treat you the best!

Re: VEEG what to expect

Thanks Kayakmom,
I had thought about my checkbook as being a MAJOR stressor. I haven't been able to find the $8 I have too much of in 2 months . Before my brain went bonkers I used to be able to balance out to the penny, now I find it a huge chore and yes a big source of stress.

I wonder about visitors? Do they allow your family to come and visit? Not that it's that conveinient, we live in DC and traffic is horrible here.I will take my laptop as the computer tends to cause seizures. I do notice more at mealtimes and I find using my electric toothbrush at night causes me to have them , but that could be due to tiredness.
Thanks for your advice,

Re: VEEG what to expect

You should call the center and ask about visitors and the laptop. Someplaces allow you to use them, some do not because it interferes with the recording....

We always were allowed visitors for my son. He had to have someone with him all the time. It is sometimes different for adults but they usually do let folks come see you...

The check book sounds like a good stressor!
