>>> jerrytom <<< HOW ARE YOU THESE DAYS?

Hi Jeff!

How have you been? I was thinking about you a few months ago and noticed you hadn't been on in awhile. I slowed down a bit too.

Just wanted to know how you're doing these days...Katie got her license back in October and will get her FIRST car on Saturday! A 93 Grand Am...she also works at Panera Bread (since September) and continues to be seizure free. (GBTG) Quite a life change from 2 years ago...just a true blessing.

School has been a bit of a struggle this year tho. She had Calculus, AP US History, Physics, American Literature, Spanish 3 and Phy Ed. Had to drop Calculus about a month or so ago...falling too far behind in other subjects and not getting the concepts in Calc. She has all of her math credits already, so no great loss there. Things are going a little smoother. She has to take her first of 2 ACTs in February. She's a little nervous about that. We'll see. One thing at a time.

If you check in, please drop a line or two...hope you had a great Christmas and the start to a super New Year!

Vicki

Re: >>> jerrytom <<< HOW ARE YOU THESE DAYS?

Hi, Thanks for asking. I got through last semester at school without an incident there, at home of course it was different. I got a B average which I think is pretty good for being out of school for 25 years. I just registered for some new classes, I hope I can make it through the semester without scaring anybody.

REMOVED I'm waiting for the MRIs from my neurosurgeon. He said I could pick them up this month. I'm getting the MRIs from Aug. 04 to Dec. 05. He told me to take classes just for fun. I'm taking a copy of my grades in in a few weeks when I see him. I hope he'll be suprised.

Thank-you for thinking about me and I pray you and your familly are doing great. I hope you all had a great holiday.

Re: >>> jerrytom <<< HOW ARE YOU THESE DAYS?

I didn't see your thread before I posted. I'm so glad Katie is doing so well! I'm proud of her just reading what you say. Taking calc, she must want to be an engineer! The reason I know about that stuff is because my familly is full of engineers. Thank-you again for thinking about me and my prayers are with you and Katie. Jeff

Re: >>> jerrytom <<< HOW ARE YOU THESE DAYS?

Hi Jeff,

Glad to hear school went well for you! I'm going to be 41 and would be terrified to go back to school. I just don't think I have the "energy" for it. It would probably take me 8 years to finish a degree, part time.

Where are you going to school? Gateway, Parkside? I have 2 years in at UW Parkside, but never finished. I regret that now, 20 years later. Katie will be off in fall of '07. I can't believe that. Then our son in '08.

REMOVED

I know when I was researching for Katie's lobectomy, I couldn't get enough info.

Take care and KUDDOS for being brave enough to head back to school to challenge that brain even more! I wish you continued success! And say HI to Dr. M for us when you see him! We haven't seen him in almost a year now.

Peace & Prayers,
Vicki

Re: >>> jerrytom <<< HOW ARE YOU THESE DAYS?

Hi Vickie, I sure will tell Dr M about Katie's success's and your triumph. I don't know if I told you what he said to me one day when I saw him, it was really funny. He kept calling me by the wrong first name. The next time I saw him, he told me never to let him do that again. I told him that I didn't care what he called me as long as he was a good doctor to me, I laughed. He said his wife said that he couldn't fix a lawn mower but he was a great brain surgon. I told him, next time my computer crashes and I can't figure out what's wrong with it, I won't think, you have to be a brain surgon to figure this thing out. It counts so much trusting your doctors. I can't say enough about Froedtert, even if I have a hard time spelling it!

Is Katie going to see a neurologist there now? I still have to say I'm so proud of both of you actually because you've been through so much in this time also. I'm so happy Katie is doing so well. I really think we both got lucky and got the best doctors in the state at least.

Now I'm going to Gateway. It's close and cheap. The DVR won't help me because they consider me unemployable. I used to go to MSOE if you know that school. That was many years ago.I really think getting out to school helps me get socialise again. I haven't been geting out very much in the past few years.

I still have to say I'm so proud of Katie, you and your familly to get through this and keep a great attitude. God bless all of you and I wish you the best of success.

Jeff

Re: >>> jerrytom <<< HOW ARE YOU THESE DAYS?

Hi Jeff,

In my post above, I made a comment about your Gamma knife surgery and what your ideas and the moderators must not have liked it. It was removed. So the only thing I'll say is "go for it".

GREAT story about Dr. M!!! Keep HIS hands AWAY from the lawn mower blades! YIKES! The motorcycles are enough!

Doesn't it sound funny when some says something like, "well, it's not like having brain surgery..." I just laugh about how often that is used...and you know, IT'S NOT like having brain surgery! Hahahahaha!!!

So DON'T call a brain surgeon if you need your computer fixed...hahahaha!!!

Here's another one too, not in the same context though...Did you meet Dr. Andrew B.? He was doing his surgical residency with Dr. M. He was a neurologist at Froedtert who decided to become a neurosurgeon and did Karie's open and close.

Well, Katie was in the hospital over the days of Pres. Reagan's funeral and I had it on the TV when Dr. Andrew B. came in to check on Katie. He asked what we were watching and I told him it was Pres. Reagan's funeral. He said, "well, you might want to turn that off if Wade comes in, he's about as liberal as they come..." and we laughed as we talked about our fondness of Reagan. I said, "well, if I HAVE to love one liberal in my lifetime, it will be Dr. M..." We both laughed...and that was JUST a joke...I love all people, I just don't always agree with everything they politically believe in, but that is why this is America.

Katie will stay on at Chlidren's until she is 19 or 20 then go over to Froedtert. The neuro we were going to switch over to left last year, a female, Dr. S. You may known her. She was very good with female related Epilepsy. Her husband got a fantastic job offer that he couldn't refuse, so I heard. They are trying to get someone on board like her again. So we have a couple more years before we have to worry about it.

Dr. Z, our Epi, is not taking new patients as off last summer already. Only doing consults for other docs. SO HAPPY we got in when she was only there about a year. She will still be our main neuro.

He also told us a story about a roast he left in the oven and was going to surprise his wife with dinner. He was called in for an emergency surgery and forgot to turn the oven off when he left. He said he was thankful the house was still standing when he got home...what a funny guy ha? I knew when we met him, he was the one for us. A great bedside manner and the unbelievable skills to do what he does. We are so thankful.

I am familiar with MSOE, had a few friends that graduated from there. Great school. Gateway is close very reasonable to get your feet wet again. Nothing wrong with that at all. Both of my brothers went there. One in real estate and the other police science.

Maybe some day our paths will cross...in the mean time, keep on persevering and give Dr. M. a big smile for us...

God Bless you as you continue to walk on your journey...you'll do great, I know it!

Vicki

Re: >>> jerrytom <<< HOW ARE YOU THESE DAYS?

Hi Vicki, I think anybody who knows Dr M would have some great stories about the man, that's the kind of guy he is. If I was of that persuation, I could probably fall for him too.
I have a CD from the people who made the gamma knife. It's a couple of short videos and some pictures. If you'd like a copy of it, we would have to figure out a way to drop it off somewhere and you could pick it up later. I don't think they have private messages on this board.
The terrible thing about going back to school is that I'm learning things about computers my kids learned years ago! It's actually funny. I'm sure Katie started on computers in grade school too, so you know what I mean.
Well have a good night and a great day to you and your familly. You will be in my prayers tonight for success. Jeff
