Fevers and Epilepsy - Epilepsy Message Board

I remember reading, or hearing someone say, that if you get a fever and u have epilepsy, you should go to the hospital. Is that true? Because my fever has been progressing rapidly over the past hour, and i remembered someone saying that.... Thanks for any help

I would say it probably wouldn't be a bad idea, especially if you have other flu or symptoms of infection. both can be triggers for seiz. Also it doesn't hurt to find out what is the matter. Just be sure to let them know about your E, and take your med. list. Be careful and good luck.

Any sort of infection can increase the risk of seizures. If you can't get ahold of your doc, or the temp goes over 101, we'd got get checked. One of our first signs of an infection is a seizure- because of other disorders, other symptoms are blunted, so we don't recognize them....if in doubt, call whoever is on call.....
