Angry Frustrated w/infections and not being heard

VENTING AND IRRITABLE.....fair warning !!!

In the past 2 weeks, there have been 3 911 calls, and 4 ER visits- 911s for seizures, often my first clue of infections- had a bladder infection, and got antibiotics the first time there, but kept telling them with the continued visits that the left kidney didn't feel right, and was told that the infection was clearing up....??? I know my body. I took the antibiotics as prescribed , and hoped the pain was just general stuff from the overall infection....but I know when something isn't right.

This morning (3 days after last antibiotic), I woke up with nausea, chills, BAD bladder spasms (as in seeing stars ), urgency, etc...called the doc's office, but nobody there who could see me or call in anything, so told to go to the urgent care center... got there (4 miles away- farther than I usually drive), where the urine test came back with microscopic blood (no wonder my innards hurt), and a host of other infection related muck. Got another rx- I don't have prescription coverage, so 90 bucks out there. I can turn that in to medicaid for my 'spend down' (like a MONTHLY deductable that is almost what I get in disability), but won't see any of it again. But made it to the clinic, pharmacy (around the corner from home at the grocery store), and home with out keeling over (another of the above 911 calls), so that's good, but I feel like road kill. Got the antibiotic started. The doc did tell me that if it ended up costing too much, to have the pharmacy call- he understood the no rx coverage deal- but I decided that 75% of what I have to live on for 2 weeks was probably worth getting rid of this.

I know my carcass...I know when something isn't right, and told the other (ER) docs. Instead, I ended up with more pain, and a worse infection. I'm a tad ****ed off (no pun intended) I generally don't feel physical pain normally, so this a.m. was actually more 'normal', and I didn't seize as a first clue....which is good, but it was also unnecessary. I still hurt, and got some stuff for 'numbing' the urinary tract (that sounds scary- I don't feel that normally either, on a good day), but if it helps, I'll try it. At least I live alone if it numbs too much ....gotta rig up the tube feeding for fluids again tonight- been doing that to keep things flushed out...but don't like it.

Sorry to yammer on.....just tired, feel bad, and KNEW something wasn't right.
I've already sent for some 'no prescription' antibiotics (I know what works for me) to get me through weekends if something comes up, so I can call my MD on Monday....but they're not here yet.

Re: Frustrated w/infections and not being heard

I remember when a neighbor (wheelchair bound) explained how a friend of his fought off a UTI. Never heard of a person doing it the way he mentioned, but it seemed to work. His friend mixed in one shot with 24 oz of water every hour. Stayed hydrated and sober, but enough in the system to kill off the infection in the track without expensive meds or hospital stays.

Wouldn't exactly recomend that for an adult epileptic, but for a quad like somebody in his shoes or his friends, it worked.

Re: Frustrated w/infections and not being heard

Hmmmm.....not a bad idea, actually....I put in an NG tube at night for supplemental fluids, and could stick the shot in there. Wouldn't matter what kind either (don't normally drink, or like the taste), and if it's going in slowly, it shouldn't have any neurological effects. Will have to think about that one!

I'm not sure if waking up eariler than normal, or the pyridium I took last night made me confused when I woke up on the couch after lying down again this morning- was way wacko- thought I was at my dead grandparent's house, but knew the layout was all wrong, etc...finally figured things out, but not a great way to wake up.
