Hi, I myself have had seizures, but am now undercontrol. However, I have just made a freind who has ideopathic seizures. I don't know much about them. Mine were complex partial and stopped after a hippocampectomy. She is interested in knowing more about her seizures but isn't sure where to start looking. If any one would have some suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Anne

Our pediatrition defined ideopathetic as "the idoits don't know what is causing them" when our daughter had her first seizures. Basically it is that they can find where, but don't know why, i.e. trauma, fever, inherited, etc. Hers just started when she reached the height of puberty. Hormonal we guess. Hope this helps.

That's what I was told as well. They know where the problem is they just can't find out the cause of it.

Hey Anne, its Annie!

I have primary generalized epilepsy. It's idiopathic; basically that means that they can't pinpont a cause to birth defect, trauma, altered metabolism, etc. Just came on. I've a few sites that explain this better than I. Here's a good one: Just scroll down to generalized idopathic epilepsies
