I have primary generalized epilepsy. It's idiopathic; basically that means that they can't pinpont a cause to birth defect, trauma, altered metabolism, etc. Just came on. I've a few sites that explain this better than I. Here's a good one: Just scroll down to generalized idopathic epilepsies
