Question Experience momentary blindness?

My son (14) has had blank stare seizures for 9 years. In the past 1 1/2 he has been experiencing momentarty blindness out of the blue. He can be walk ing down the hall at school and everything goes dark. It isn't really part of a seizure when it happens, it can be anywhere. It only lasts briefly(15-60 seconds). I was wondering if anyone else goes through this. He is on Depakote, Carbatrol & has a VNS implant in his chest. I would be interested to know if there are others out there that go through this. I have thought about looking into seizure alert dogs for him just to be there when things like this happen, especially at school.
