Fainting - Epilepsy Message Board

Can any one help me, when im going to be sick I faint, and while unconsious body stiffens eyes roll, only a few seconds.is this Epilepsy? Only happenes every few years, and only when something triggers the sickness.
Please help

Hmmmm....that's a tough one. If I were you I would make an appointment with a neurologist and explain to him what is going on. Maybe the neuro. can run some tests, like an EEG or MRI to see what is going on.

I would certainly agree that you should see a neurologist. While it sounds very much like some type of seizure, you should be more concerned about what is causing it than what it is called. When it has to do with the brain, you want to know!

I have a rare form of epilepsy called abdominal epilepsy. It includes the symtpoms you are discribing but mine also include vomitting (nice addition huh?). Mine started out once a month or so but before I went to the doc for an eeg they were several times a day/week. I would vomit, pass out, be stiff (never the usual shaking associated with most seizures) eyes roll back, etc. There are tests that can rule this out or not. If it is epilepsy, there is help for it. Let me know how it goes.

When my daughter was in the hospital being diagnosed with E, one of her teachers came to visit me and told me his daughter faints every time she vomits. Its not a seizure but the vomiting triggers a nerve in her brain which causes her to faint. There is a scientific name for this which I forgot. Could be what you have, but I agree with others go to doc and have it checked out. good luck!
