Question Steriods

My 7 year daughter does not have epilepsy but she does have a brain lesion from birth, giving her about a 50% chance of developing seizures at any point in her life.

I have always been told (by other parents)to avoid antihistamines and decongestants, as they may trigger seizures. Right now my daughter has a bad cold/cough (for about 2 weeks) and her pediatrician wants to put her on inhaled and then possibly oral steriods.

I'm very reluctant to do this. What is your advice?

Thanks!

How did you find out your daughter had a brain lesion since birth? I have 4 children and have had problems with coughs from colds/allergies for years. Finally found the best thing that worked for me was to fill a crock pot with water and some sea salt and run it in their bedrooms at night. Like breathing in saline solution all night. Matter of fact, it worked so well, I have them all over my house starting in the fall thru spring. But, please put them where your child will not get burned or scalded and where it will not catch fire. Works a lot better than a cool mist humidifier and is a lot easier to clean. I had a friend who got pneumonia from bacteria that she breathed in from her humidifier. If you use the meds and she starts having seizures, then you'll have to use the anti-seizure meds. lazoo

Thanks for the tip.

We found out about the lesion from a brain scan at birth.
