Topamax and Tegretal - Epilepsy Message Board

Im on both medicines. Tegretal 600mg and Topamax 200mg. I was just wondering if there was anyone else who was on the same medication? Or know much about the regualar tegretal. I was on tegretal xr for a long time then switched to topamax and i needed something else cause I had a seizure and my doctor put me on the regualar tegretal.

Welcome to the board

I was put on 100mg of Topomax about 4 mo's ago. The only side effect I have noticed so far is that it effects my speech. I have heard that it also causes wt. loss but haven't noticed that yet. I don't think I take enough mg. yet.
I also take Tegretol 100mg (slow release) 3 in the AM & Tegretol 400mg 1 in AM, I also take the 400mg 2 at night. I don't notice any real side effects from the Tegretol & I have been taking that for about 15 yrs. It seems to control the SZ. fairly well. I also take Neurontin along w/the other meds.
