Anyone have this side effect from Tegretol XR? - Epilepsy Message Board

So I wanted to be a little discreet and not put this in the subject, but soon after starting on Tegretol XR, I noticed one or two little white things in each of my stools (thats poop!). They looks like a little piece of undigested tofu. It makes me wonder if part of the XR is not being fully digested, like whatever mechanism is used to real the drug slowly. I did not have this on regular Tegretol.

This causes no problem, just is a little quirky side effect.

I noticed the same thing, and the doctor alleged that that white stuff is what in part makes the pill 'extend' it's 'release'. He says that it is perfectly normal, and now that he started me on 400mg horsepills, this should be even MORE noticeable in my waste. You'll also notice 'holes' in the pill before you take it: those play a part in allowing the pills to dissolve slowly, yet consistantly. If I understood him right, that stuff is indigestible PLASTIC that is CLAIMED to produce no side-effects.
