Question Symptom related to seizures???

Anybody ever feel like this before???
Getting up in the morning, feeling very nervous and uneasy... just not knowing why. Feeling like something is wrong, just not quite sure what or where. This feeling is strong enough that you want to get out of the house, just to be near someone (I live alone). It's almost like what I would describe as psychic.
This feeling comes and goes, sometimes lasting weeks.

Related info:
I have occasional daytime auras... never leading to a GM.
I've had 8 Gran Mal seizures, all while sleeping, starting in Oct. 2001.
Five of the GM's were caused by trying to wean off of meds, at neuro's request... normal EEG's.
I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs.
Sinus problems/sleep apnea are probable causes for my GM's
Take phenytoin, lorazepam, and diovan... all in small amounts + vitamins.

Is it an aura, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, or just life?
I'm guessing it's life!
Just had to sound off about it.
Thanks for any input...

Re: Multiple symptoms related to seizures???

What you describe sounds exactly like what I have sometimes. I feel nervous, upset, a feeling of dread and needing to be close to my husband.
I have talked to several people about these feelings and from what I've gathered they are a type of aura. Auras don't always lead to seiz. and sometimes I feel like I'd just as soon have the seiz. and get it over with. I described these feelings to my doc. He prescribed 5mg. Valium to be taken as needed when I feel that way. It is not something I would want to use on an everyday basis, but for "those days" they help immensly. Within 1/2 hour after taking one I feel a little sleepy but no longer freaking out and able to function. Hope that helps some.
Best of luck, Laura

Re: Multiple symptoms related to seizures???

aussie308...
Thanks for your response... I literally thought it was something that just I went through. My neuro said that every seizure does permanent damage... sort of like drinking alcohol. It's a little scary sometimes feeling that way. Can't say I'd rather have a seizure though.
I take lorazepam (ativan) which does help for this. It's the same as valium, just works faster but doesn't last as long. I'm allowed up to 2mg/day. I take 1/2mg at a time as needed... usually only 1/2 to 1mg total a day. I tried valium instead last month. I kept falling asleep during the day and dreaming alot at night, so I went back to lorazepam.
I have a few close friends I turn to, or I go out to a casino or walmart... depending on how bad it is, or what time it is.
How often does this happen to you?

Re: Multiple symptoms related to seizures???

IMNRVUS...I think I have the same feelings sometime...things just aren't right...I may be a bit shakey...it is difficult to describe...sometimes I feel like I should cry, but I don't know why. I was feeling this way one time when I went to see the neurologist for a regular 4 month check up...she ended up sending me to a psychologist who works with people with epilepsy.

I have also been diagnosed with sleep apnea...mixed...and I take Trileptal and Keppra for seizures...also Inderal and Diovan for BP. All of my tonic clonic seizures have been at night but simple partial/aura types have been during the day...that's life...huh...

Lemac:
I guess it's meant to be... just when you think you've got everything under control, life trips you up. It's funny, we have some of the same things wrong with us, right down to the crying... with a little confusion added in.
One thing I neglected to say was that I had just started a relationship with a woman (including living together) 6 months prior to my 1st GM seizure. I moved in with her, in a not-so-good part of Vegas. So there was stress coming from all sides. Throw in 9/11 happening 1 month before my 1st GM (I'm from New York State). Mix well with sleep apnea and sinus trouble, and something was bound to happen. That girlfriend and I grew apart right after I came home from the hospital, so I moved out to a small community about an hour out of town. She couldn't handle the fact that I had a seizure disorder... and she's a nurse!!?? I've been depressed over losing her for years. I was very attached... and still keep in touch. At least I know it's over. I just wonder if that loss contributes to having these odd auras. I've become a very emotional person since the 1st seizure. So much that my PCP requested hormone blood tests.
