does anyone know

my dad who is 60 has had epilepsy for many years and it is now controlled and he hasnt had a fit for years but within the last few years he has developed symptoms almost like parkinson disease he struggles walking his arms shake and the shaking has now gone into his head and neck and he struggles using a knife and fork and resorts to using a spoon a lot of the time and he is finding this very hard to get used to as he is a very proud man and feels like a child again he has been to see a consultant who has changed his tablets but this seems to have made the shaking worse
i was wondering if there is anyone out there who has epilepsy and also suffers with these same symtoms and if there is anything we can do to help ease the symtoms
as many of you will know epileptics can not use a lot of produtcs such as creams or have massages to help so any other advice would be greatly appriciated

Re: does anyone know

Have you gone to the Next level for silverware of using the wrist strap that has a sleeve you can slip in impliments such as spoon, fork, or pen or pencil?

If the food is not that complex, like soup, depending on his shaking, make sure it is *warm* NOT hot, and he may be able so sip it from the lip of the plate. Even dishes like Pasta without messy sauce (or very little). Thats how my neighbor eats, and he's in a chair with minimal use of his hands (not arms).

Hope that helps a little bit. If there is a disability center to help Train people who are handicapped THEY may be of assistance in guiding you.

I'm curious also-why can't we use creams? I use them all the time.

Re: does anyone know

Also curious as to what kind of creams you are refering to?
And as far as massages, I have had them with no issues. So am also unsure where you have gotten this info.

I know with the meds I take there are other meds I can not take. But that has nothing ot do with the siezures. Also the meds I am on give me slight tremors that get worse when I get upset. I am 42, who knows maybe after being on these for many more years the tremors could get worse.

If I were you I would go with him to his doc and ask about this issue. ASAP
