| Re: Adult onset seizures?
I've had sensory simple partial seizures (auras) for over 15-20 years... I had my first Gran Mal seizure (out of a total of 8) Oct. 12, 2001 at 46 years old. Both types of my seizures are not directly related (in my opinion) because they never happen close together.
Migraines definitely can be a trigger for a Gran mal.
Having normal mri and eeg tests don't mean you won't have more seizures either. Only a doctor would probably know if chemotherapy would trigger seizures... but my guess would be yes, because of the headaches.
It's not always necessary to call 911 every time someone has a seizure. Just make sure the person doesn't hurt themselves, turn them onto their side, and calmly talk to them until they wake up. If after a while, they didn't know who or where they were, then they probably should go to the hospital.
Drastic changes in anti-epileptic medicine or anxiety medicine amounts could trigger seizures too.
Good luck getting him to go to a doctor. I went until I got both kinds of my seizures under control as best as possible. If they get worse or change, I go back.
