I was diagnosed epilileptic 5 years ago (at the age of 20). I had problems with dizzines and "strange episodes" (funny strong smells that were non existent, fainting, hysterical uncontrolled laughter which happened when I felt "odd"). At the time of the episodes I am completly unaware of what I am saying or doing and I am unresponsive. They normally last around a minute.

The doc diagnosed me via an eeg which came back abnormal (with spikes) and put me on 800mg of tegretol a day. During this episodes I also felt short of breath. Anyway the tegretol helped for about a year and then I began to get worse, my doc told me that if it was not working then I was not epileptic but maybe had some psychotic illness???? (other then these episodes I am what I would call "normal"). Anyway I stopped taking the meds a year ago and the episodes continued, about 8 months ago the episodes starting happening on a daily basis, sometimes I feel like my brain is shifting in my head and I feel tired and strange. I sometimes have difficulty saying words and it is very frustrating.

I have some hormone inbalances also and my endo doc insisted I have another eeg which came back very abnormal. I am 5 months pregant and am having a difficult time functioning normally. Does this sound like epilepsy to you guys? I am so confused. Is there anything else which can cause an abnormal eeg?
