i want to go on vacation, but i have horrible seizures when i get sick - Epilepsy Message Board

I love the world we live in, isnt it so beautiful, I would love to see as much of it before my body wears down, I am 35, have been dealing with CFS for 5 years now

I get horrible seizures if i let my b ody wear down, CFS and seizures great combo : ( I feel I am sort of a success story, I was so very sick, everything was so heavy- even a gallon of milk, but now i feel so much stronger and better. but of course I have my weak points. i am sick when I see lots of bright lights and lots of noise ( cant go to casinos and lots of resturants) the heat wears my body down to make me go into my seizures. we dont have much humidity where I live.

people life in humidity- how does your body handle it?

i would love to go to mexico, i know my body couldnt handle the trip so i would go back in my wheelchair, but i am worried about the heat. i want to have a good trip, i know whereever I go i am going to have a chance of being sick, but i am used to being sick, and being in a good mood.

Hi VR,

Heat has never affected me like that,but,I can tell you that
I live in Florida and the high humidity down here doesn't
affect me either.Never knew heat could cause seizures,I do
know that hyponatremia(I have)can cause seizures sometimes
because of low sodium in the blood and sweating alot(I do terribly)
can cause you to lose more sodium.I know this from reading
up on hyponatremia,not because sweating causes me to have a
seizure.Has your sodium levels ever been checked?Just a thought.

I have problems with changes in temperature- especially getting too hot. I've got fibro, diabetes, epilepsy, dysautonomia, had a total knee replacement, and almost complete filling of my right lung with blood clots from a clotting disorder...I understand feeling like a train wreck. And I understand being isolated because of medical problems and not knowing when something is going to act up. I want to move back to TX so bad, but haven't been able to because of my health. I hate the weather here (even though it's where I grew up, my body changed with illness and 17 years in another state/climate).

For me, the answer is to wait. No place is going anywhere. And to risk health for the sake of just getting somewhere doesn't make sense for me. I hate sounding like a wimp, but being elsewhere when things act up is just too frightening.
