they should give you IV pain killers, not tylenol. this is my way of thinking it. if ambulance people could just let u go home, and rest and not go on the painful painful ambulance ride where everybump kills your head. and u have to be in that hospital bed, feeling like a victim when u just want to get out of there. my head hurts i want iv pain killer if i have to be in er.. i never go into er when i have seizures asking for pain meds, so i dont abuse thier medicene. i just want relieve
IV pain meds are not given for seizures since the docs need to monitor mental status and alertness, and the IV pain meds interfere with that. They don't like to give any sort of medication unless it's to stop status epilepticus, and that's just because it's a life-threatening thing, and there's not much choice.
I hate the ER too, but usually get sent there if someone else sees the seizure, or I have symptoms similar to the pulmonary emoboli (blood clots in lung), pre-strokes, or infections causing seizures. There have been times I'm admitted (up to 17 days for the blood clots), and other times, I get fluids, tests, and sent home. Then I can get my regular pain meds, and go to bed.
