Diagnosed with Complex Partial Seizures but now changed
I was diagnosed with Complex Partial Seizures back in the early 80's with Epilepsy. Since then, I have experienced many things and my conditions changes ever so often. Now, days I have either of two types of seizures. The whole body jerking thing or the sudden electrical like charge that goes up my spine into my brain and it leaves my mind a blank for a few seconds to a minute which seems to me to be very long time. In the whole body jerks my mind and vision suddenly go blank and things in front of my face means nothing to me. Then the fog rolls into my vision. Next comes the jerking of my body and my head and spine arche backwards. Then, my head flops to the left and right automatically at the same time. I cannot control these things so, I let them happen. Sometimes, I have them in my sleep and suddenly wait up not breathing and cannot catch my breath until a few seconds goes by or sometimes it take almost a minute. Very scary thing, too.
Has anyone diagnosed with Complex Partial Siezures have their types of seizurs change on them like mine has? I also have panic attacks with my seizure as well. Sorry but, I have both.
Re: Diagnosed with Complex Partial Seizures but now changed
A lot of people have more than one type of seizure. It's not rare at all, and people also have changes at times, either with horomonal changes with aging, stress, etc. I have both daytime and nocturnal complex partial seizures, and I suspect autonomic seizures (vs the autonomic disorder- but not sure since the tests for the autonomic disorder were positive), or one leads into the other.
Some people have one type of seizure, and during an unusually stressful time will have generalized (GM) seizures, when they don't normally have them. Epilepsy doesn't stay static. Changes in the brain, and kindling also make some seizures more likely, and others more possible, since the electrical impulses in the brain are already on high gear. It happens

Hi C Akers,
Yes,my seizures changed overtime. At first they were only the
petite mals, that was when I was only 4 years old til I was a
teenager, they then turned into complex partials.I now have complex
partials(much worse though)along with a few grand mals.I also believe
like Neuro stated that your seizures change as you age and you have
hormonal changes.I also have alot more than I use to.
I see you are new to the board, wanted to also welcome you.
