My Mum Has Epilepsy
She Was Devolped With It When She Was 12
And She Didnt Have Another Seizure Until She Was About 32
I Was Thinking Because She Had Epilepsy When I Was Born
Could It Be Passed On To Me ?

Not necessarily,it has been known that many women with
Epilepsy have very healthy children and it is not suppose to
be hereditary.If I were you,I would not worry for now.My
doctor years ago told me that if I had wanted to have children,
the main thing I would have had to worry about was being on
my meds that could possibly cause birth defects,if you were
born very healthy there should be nothing to worry about.
hi there, as for my experience I was told epilepsy is past on in rare cases not sure y. I had epilepsy for 20 years but no one in my family did, I hit my head when i was 6 and they began years laters. Neurologist told me when i have kids they wont get it, so u should find out first what caused your mother's epilepsy, and who else in the family had it. Im pretty sure ur safe and your wont ever get them. Take care

hi ive had epilepsy 4 just over a yr since ive been on medication called keppra ive had no seizures. but there are things i cant do anymore like horse riding bike riding anything i used 2 enjoy and im really scared that sumthing might trigger another fit off im 2 scared 2 do anything anymore have u got any advice for me plus my mother had epilepsy wgen she was my age but stopped when she got pregnant with me

well, my mom had epilepsy until she was pregnant with me now sghe doesnt have it and i do. but i do not think its hereditory my doctor thinks it was developed from stress because i recently lost my nan who i lived with and was very close to.
