Grand Mal Seizures

Has anyone ever noticed feeling very irritiable, at "unrest", etc. before a Grand Mal Seizure - almost 'anxious'?

Re: Grand Mal Seizures

Hi,

Yes,I just had a few last week, and before one of them,I noticed
I was sweating very bad, very anxious, was out walking my dogs
and got very inpatient with them, all of that just 20 minutes before
seizure.I finely made it back inside and was able to lay down on
couch(had to lay down or pass out)was trembling and them Bam!!
My poor little dogs(I got a little irritable with them).Thank God I
was staying with my parents because I had already had quite a few
complex partials and another grandmal. My mom even told me to calm
down.Have you had those warnings?

Take care,Sherri

Hi, thanks for replying... I've had 'crawling sensations' in the back of my head - been very anxious - very difficult time falling asleep, couldn't be still, so I finally got up and got on the computer so my husband could sleep! This has been going on for a couple days... he has even noticed how 'irritable' I am... we are flying on a trip tomorrow, so I pray the atmosphere change, etc. doesn't throw me into me... I was wondering if I'm having 'pre-symptoms'
I've - very fortunately - only had seizure, but it was a huge Grand Mal - I was basically out of it for 30 minutes... convulsing, unconscious, throwing up, the whole nine yards! Also... I had dinner on my tongue that night too!

What is a 'complex partial?'

Re: Grand Mal Seizures

Hi Ann

I have never had symptoms like you days before, just an hour
tops.A complex partial is another type of seizure. They are not
as bad as the GM.When I have a CP I am out of it,cannot hear
anything people are saying to me,cannot see nothing, may walk
around and have bumped into things before, will mumble, pick at
my clothes,these may last about 1 to 3 minutes.And when I come
out of them,I sometimes can go on as if nothing happened, but, here
lately I have to go to sleep and am disoriented like after a Granmal.
I don't fall,bite my tongue,and they don't last as long.After a GM,
I am out of it until the next day sometimes.Have you ever heard of
petite mals?PM are the mildest form of a seizure,GM are the worst,
and CP are in between.I hope that helped.Any questions, feel free to
ask.
I hope your trip goes well.

Take care,Sherri

Re: Grand Mal Seizures

No. I get these deja vu type feelings. Like I'm in a half dream. This "aura" is always a warning that I'm going to have a seizure. I used to think these auras were flashbacks from a previous life (once I was this woman in a red dress in a bar/saloon from the old west. I no longer think that way but what a wild vision!

Fortunately, my seizures have mostly been in my sleep or in the morning. Whenever I have an aura, I can usually get myself alert enough to fight the seizure.
