sports and seizures

I've actually been having seizures when playing sports or exercising. I'm on a flag football team and one second I was on the field and the next thing I knew I was on the sideline. I asked a teammate what I was doing here and made them put me back on the field. Also, when I play basketball I've had some episodes as well. I am the the player that is always running around hustling. Because I am very competitive, I find myself having more episodes. The other day I even had a seizure while on the treadmill. I was running and the next thing I knew I was on the couch. I think this may be from over exerting myself. Has anybody else run into problems like this?

Re: sports and seizures

that happened to me last summer. whenever i would run/workout i would have a sz. ive had szs on the soccer field, running, and just lifting weights. my dr at the time said its really rare to have exercise induced szs so he thought they were psychological or something. i got a second opinion though aand he said they were def epileptic. he added another med on and im now controlled. im playing college soccer right now and things are going good. maybe you could try another med or something, but i know how you feel. i had to redshirt my sophomore yr bc of this problem. its so frustrating!

Re: sports and seizures

The doctors let me play football all the way through college, since my problem with epilepsy wasn't because of a head injury. Never had a seizure while I was playing, but I did experience hand tremors when I was exercising with heavy weights. It subsided after I rested for awhile.
