I was wondering if anybody who is on lamictal has experienced depression as a side effect? I've been on it for about seven years and have been depressed for about that long too. I have OCD as well which is a part of why I'm depressed but I'm feeling extremely depressed and helpless lately and need to find something that might help.
Jillian,
I hope you had a good weekend. I was a bit surprised that no one responded to this post. I don't know if your feelings of depression could be from your medication or from epilepsy. There is such a huge connection between Epilepsy and other neurological things....like depression....and migraines...and on and on....even Sleep Apnea....
But then....it could be a medication side effect....! Oh well....have a great week...

Hi Jillian,
I just wanted to let you know I understand how you feel. But I just started taking Depekote and I've also had OCD my whole life. Since starting this drug, I feel immediate depression that is unbearable. I am trying to get hold of my Doctor now. I am off work this week and maybe I'm whimpy, but I need more time. I can't work, especially collections, feeling like this. So I guess that can be a side effect of meds. I am getting off of it right away though. I couldn't take it any longer than the past couple weeks I've been on it. I just went through a long term EEG at a hospital so hopefully they can try another medication that will work. Good luck and really get hold of your neurologist.
