Just curious...
How many of you out there had your first seizures as an adult?
Also, how many of you had moved from the city/state that you were born/raised?
I lived on the east coast at near sea level until about 22 years old... without seizures. Moved to Southern Colorado (6500') until about 41 years old. Then to Southern Nevada (2700'). Within about 5 years, I had my first GM seizure. However, I did have Simple Partial seizures since living in Colorado and wasn't on any meds for them.
Could change in altitude where you live have an effect on seizure onset?
What do you think?

I had my first seizure at the age of 21 in Florida. I shortly after moved to New York. My seizures were controlled on meds but if I forgot to take my meds, got drunk (I was young and in college), I'd have a seizure. I then moved to Los Angeles and things remained pretty much the same. I'm now back in Florida.

When I was very young I would have these weird spells, deja vu type. I never understood what it meant. I asked my mom, brother but they just shrugged it off. I'm certain in retrospect that those were auras that never transpired into actual seizures.

My husband was about 70 when he had his first grand mal. He had what we thought were TIA's for a while before that. We now know that they were actually Petit mal seizures. I don't think that moving to a different area has any affect on his seizures, but everyone has different reactions to things. Since he has been on the Keppra, he has had NO seizures at all. Amazing!!
