Does tegretol retard have any affetc on menstruation? - Epilepsy Message Board

Hi all x my daughter has epilepsy and is on tegretol retard she is 12. She started her period start of Jan had a full week of the period but hasnt had another period yet! Should l be worried? Does tegretol have any affect on the menstrual cycle? I will be ringing the nurse this week concerning this. Just was wondering if anyone here had experienced anything like this? Cheers ;wave:

I've never heard of any side effects from Tegretol related to the menstral cycle. I'm on tegretol, and it's never affected me that way. She's still young- your daughter's body may still be regulating. When I first got my period at 14, I only got it once, and then didn't have it again until about 4 months later(it was awesome- I didn't have to deal with it all summer! lol

). It took about a year before I was regular.

i was on tegretol xr from when i was 5 till i was 16. my period was always really irregular, but i think that is just bc i was young. it is still kinda irregular now but a little better now that i am 20 and im on diff meds so i dont think it was the tegretol. ive never heard anything about tegretol and periods so who knows??
