seizure during sleep - Epilepsy Message Board

I had a seizure while sleeping. but doc says no epilepsy, and pseudoseizures have been ruled out.

.....any ideas?.....

I have a few questions:

What makes you think you had a seizure while you slept?
Did somebody witness it?
What were your symptoms?
Why and how did your doctor rule out epilepsy?
Did you have a 24 hour eeg done? That would record you while asleep, as well as awake. Sidenote: Not everyone with seizures has an abnormal eeg.

My mom winessed them. and i have had all the tests done, MRI, MRA, EEG, 24hr EEG, CT scans, blood work, urine tests, 24hr urine tests, i have had the works. and everthing was normal.

Did your mom come with you to the doctor and tell him/her what she saw?
Your first post said you had a seizure (meaning one), and your second post says your mom witnessed them (meaning more than one). One seizure would not necessarily consititute epilepsy, but if you did in fact have more than one, then I would definitely suggest you get another opinion. Did you go to a regular doctor, a neurologist or an epileptologist?

Also, if you do decide to get another opinion, try and get a copy of your films/reports so you don't have to repeat everything. Perhaps you may need a veeg done - that's a video eeg - in hospital stay to record what's going on. Many of us here have had it, it's very helpful. I hope you do follow this up, as you won't necessarily catch seizure activity on a 24 hr. eeg.

yes i have had the video eeg, the last set of seizures i had my neurologist put me in the hospital, because in fact, i had them at school. i am fresh into college and because of these i had to take a 10 week leave of absence which started last week. my seizures started about five years ago no head trauma or anything like that. then they quit for about two years and now they have come back even worse then what they were. when they first started they were like absence seizures and now they are well let me tell you what my friends, family, and instructors have told me. they say at first i go real limp and then turn really rigid. then they say that i have involuntary muscle jerking and that i can breathe air in but i cant gat it to come back out. then they say my lips turn cyanotic. i didnt used to have more than one at a time but now since they have gotten worse i have anywhere from 5 to 10 at a time. my mom has told my doctor everything and so has my instructor. my instructor has had to go to the ER with me and has even told my docotr what she has witnessed and still, nothing.
