I went to the doctor 6 month ago and he saw my brain MRI result and told me I am ok.I am sure it is going to come back again. The Vomitting lasts for the whole day in the next morning. Please I really need an advice.Or an experience from someone who encounterd such a thing.

Re: Is there Epilepsy while sleeping?

Hi Dave
My b/f has night epilepsy he has never had a siezure while awake in the apparent 12 years of having epilepsy. He currently sees a neuro and is taking tegratol for his siezures, he has recently had some problems with his medication however we find his major trigger is stress he has a little difficulty getting to sleep on these days and i am sure this also is another trigger late nights 2 or 3 in a row. I am sure if you persist with your gp he will take note also I find keeping a diary of the day and his mood etc has helped find his triggers in turn is assisting me with early recognition as some nights i sleep right through a siezure i also have a bell on the bed head that now alerts me to a siezure.I really wish you the best with trying to get an answer but hang in there. We are in australia and his neuro has told us that as long as his seizures remain nocturnal then there is no risk in driving and they wont take his licence that for us is a possitive.
hope this helps

Post Re: Is there Epilepsy while sleeping?

dave,

when i was 22 years old i went a streak of waking up with a swollen, bitten tongue and a faint mark of blood and saliva on my pillowcase. except for the tongue bite i felt fine. it was not until two years later that someone actually was there during the night to witness the seizure. when i was young i remember my mother talking about how i ground my teeth while sleeping so there is a good chance that i was having seizures then as well.

in my case an eeg test easily saw the the condition but i have often heard that there are some whose condition is not as easily detected and had to monitored for a week or more.

best of luck,

logger

Re: Is there Epilepsy while sleeping?

Hello Dave:

I have complex partial siezures, Left Temporal Lobe focus.

I have experienced seizures during times when I have been asleep. I experience the aura first which brings me to a state of semi-consiousness. Upon awakening either that evening or even in the next A.M. I can clearly recall the number and even the intensity of each seizure.

I hope all goes well for you.
