Epilepsy and diabetes

I have had epilepsy for about 12 years now. Within the past 2 months I have been diagonised with diabetes. I am taking Tegetrol and Metformin.
I seem to be having nothing but problems with the two. They say there is no interactions between the two but now my Tegetrol levels have dropped a lot, and my sugar level have increased even more.
My tegetrol amount has been increased giving me more isses from the side effects.
Does any one else have epilepsy and diabetes and how do you deal with it? We never thought it would be this hard.
